    Shot of Kemel Ataturk (aka Mustapha Kemel), Turkish general and statesman, known as the father of his people.

    Kemel Ataturk walking toward camera and greeting a row of Turkish men. He is followed by other men, all wearing fez hats and most in uniforms, Turkish flag flying overhead. Pan on a few Turkish Nationalist soldiers, wearing ammunition belts over their shoulders and dark fabric wrapped round their heads and tied at the side. CU one of these soldiers.

    American cataloguer's note: Mustafa Kemal Ataturk & his nationalist forces fought against Greek occupation of Turkey. They negotiated a more favourable treaty with the Allies (Treaty of Lausanne) in 1923. After Sultan was deposed, MKA elected president of Turkish Republic.
