Footage of the bodyguard of the Greek Prime Minister.
Mr Venizelo's body - not the least striking of the many strange costumes seen at the peace conference. France.
Bodyguards of Greek premier Eleutherios Venizelos; walking in a row toward camera; with famous Paris monument the Arc de Triomphe in BG. The men; except for one in military uniform; are dressed in 2 different types of traditional Greek clothing. 3 wear flowing capes; white collared shirts under some vest; a sort of knee-length skirt; and dark boots. The other 3 wear short tunics with a brocade trim; white leggings with white strips wrapped round their calves and some big shoes -- this outfit is topped off by a dark hat with flowing fabric hanging down the side of the head. (Venizelos had resigned as Premier in 1915; but took over again after the forced abdication of King Constantine and entered the war on the side of the Allies.)
