  • Description

    Large crowd of people mill around part of Montparnasse in Paris where paintings are displayed on large screens.

    An artist works on a large painting of a Saint or possibly the Virgin Mary.

    Fujita - a well-known painter of women - is featured. He walks down a Montparnasse street wearing what looks a bit like a dressing gown. C/U of Fujita at work. A model poses with her head thrown back. Fujita smokes a cigarette as he draws.

    "The smart art world's latest vogue - " is demonstrated. A woman (most probably the famous Kiki de Montparnasse) poses whilst a man sculpts her head in telephone wire (!) C/U of the 3-D wire portrait. He holds it up against her face. The sculptor then displays a full size model of a woman. It waves around.

    "Boulevard Raspail, where the unknowns show their work." L/S of crowds looking at paintings. A woman looks at a painting. A bearded artist arranges some small sculptures. C/U of the artist with a sculpture of a woman behind him. Woman looks at a painting (this section very decomposed). C/U of the painting - a naked woman smoking a cigarette.

    Was an item in Pathe Pictorial issue number 599.
