This is a reel taken at the Valleyfield pit disaster in Fife. 28 October 1939. The woman in the shawl at the left edge is my grandmother - Mary Thompson, holding her youngest son Hugh. My grandfather was on backshift and therefore not in the mine when disaster struck. 35 men died.
