    Shots of racing driver Mike Hawthorn drinking with Jack Hawkins and Joe Davis at a recent National Sporting Club dinner (see 59/7 for full story).

    Several shots show the scene of Mike Hawthorn's fatal car crash. We see an uprooted tree on the grass verge of the Guildford bypass and skid marks where Hawthorn's car left the road and hit the tree. Still photographs of the wrecked car with tree jutting out of chassis.

    Cut back to library footage of the National Sporting Club dinner where Charles Forte is presenting a cocktail cabinet to Mike. The fatal crash happened just 60 hours later.

    Several shots of cars in a race at Silverstone in 1953. Mike Hawthorn is in No. 8 - he skids across the verge but gets back into the race.

    We see footage from Le Mans in 1955. Cars are prepared by mechanics. Hawthorn chats before the start of the race. C/U of Hawthorn in cockpit of car. General view of start of Le Mans race. Shots of cars racing round bend at speed towards camera. We see a burning car on the side of the track after a terrible crash as other cars race past. Hawthorn comes in to win - chequered flag is waved. Hawthorn slowly driving past in his car after winning the race.

    The final shots, from 02:01 onwards, show Hawthorn after winning the 1955 Le Mans race, driving his Jaguar D-Type.
