Reel 3. Roosevelt speech about the power of concentrated wealth. He wins election in a landslide. Crowds of people wave and cheer. Second Inaugural Address. Large crowd of people stand under umbrellas to listen to speech. Shot of the large number of press photographers and cameramen on a podium capturing the event. Hitler. Nazis on the march - night shot. Mussolini. War in the Far East. Civil war in Spain. Military manoeuvres. Many shots of Roosevelt making speeches with a voice over questioning his delay in getting involved in world events. He makes a speech about avoiding involvement in the war. Neville Chamberlain and his wife get into a car. Aircraft drop bombs. Buildings on fire. Soldiers travelling on a strange underground railway. Roosevelt talks of co-operation whilst keeping America out of the war. Invasion of France by Nazis - soldiers on the march. American industry. Tanks. Roosevelt signs document. Men queuing to register for military service. Roosevelt campaigns for a third term in office. Supporters with flags and banners. Wendell Wilkie - Republican newcomer. Scoreboard showing votes for Roosevelt and Wilkie. Message in lights that Roosevelt had been reelected. Cheering crowds. Speech about the dangers for the U.S.A. which will follow if Great Britain "goes down" - the people will be living "at the point of a gun". Submarines. A ship sinks. Warships. Roosevelt and his advisors around a table. Newfoundland: Roosevelt meets Churchill to formulate an Atlantic Charter. The two men sing a hymn on the deck of a boat with a large choir in naval uniform. Roosevelt returns to America.
Aircraft taking off from a carrier. Ships under attack at Pearl Harbour. Roosevelt speaks of the Japanese attack. Professional advisors in strategy - military men in a control room. Roosevelt visits fighting men and war production - aircraft factory. Launching of a ship.
Reel 4. Roosevelt travels overseas to meet with international leaders including Churchill, Mackenzie King, Chiang Kai-shek and de Gaulle. Stalin, Roosevelt and Churchill seated together on a balcony. Election. Thomas Dewey. Roosevelt speaks of attacks on his personal life, making jokes about his dog. Americans queue to vote. Roosevelt reelected. He meets Stalin and Churchill at Yalta. Roosevelt returned to the United States unwell. He makes an optimistic speech about the conference he had just attended. He receives standing ovation. Shortly afterwards, Roosevelt died at Warm Springs. People in mourning side by the side of the railway track as train carrying his body passes by. Funeral procession. Huge crowds of people. Women cry. Family and friends attend the funeral. Coffin is lowered into the ground. Military presence. Gun salute. Written and Spoken by Max Beloff. Film Editor: Richard Marden.
