LADY ASTOR WAS NOT THE FIRST WOMAN MP ELECTED TO THE HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT !!!
COUNTESS MARKIEVICZ WAS.. BUT WAS UNABLE TO TAKE HER SEAT OWING TO BEING HELD IN PRISON IN NORTHERN IRELAND.
MORE CORRECTLY TO SAY THAT LADY ASTOR WAS THE FIRST TO TAKE HER SEAT, BUT NOT NOT THE FIRST ELECTED ( A COMMON MISTAKE)
