Pat McAteer beats Lew Lazar and retains the British and Empire Middleweight Champion title.
British and Empire Middleweight Championship fight between Champion Pat McAteer and his challenger Lew Lazar in progress. GV. The two boxers fighting in the ring. SCU. Man at ring side. SV. Brief glimpse of a knock down, Lazar falls down. CU. Photographer at ring side. SV. Lazar is down on his knees and McAteer walks away. Lazar rolls on the canvas and the referee starts to count CU. Tommy Farr looking on. SV. The end of the count 9 and Lazar rises. They start boxing again and Lazar is turning into a corner. SV. Through ropes, McAteer drives Lazar into a corner, he lands a vicious left and follows up with flurry of blows. Another left goes in and Lazar starts to fall. McAteer misses falling Lazar with his right but he is on the floor already. Referee comes to push McAteer away, goes back and starts to count as Lazar is on his knees. SV. Referee still counting. Lazar rises and they resume. McAteer goes after Lazar again and drives him into the middle of the ring. McAteer is after the kill - he comes after Lazar, lands a right and goes after him across the ring. He pins him against the ropes and slings a series of left jabs. Lazar tries to fight him off but another good left goes in followed by a right and Lazar sings to the canvas. The referee pushes McAteer away as Lazar is resting on one knee and starts to count again. CU. People at ring side - one smoking a cigar , another pipe. SV. Lazar rises but the referee holds up the McAteer's arm and Lazar comes over to congratulate him. McAteer walks back to his corner.
