Snow is cleared from around the Trans Canada Highway in the Glacier National Park.

  • Description

Titles read: "CANADA - MAN TAMES AVALANCHES".

    Roger's Pass, British Columbia.

General view of mountains in the Selkirk range in the Glacier National Park. Several shots of cone-shaped hills at the base of a mountain near the Trans Canada Highway that have been built to protect the road from avalanches. A man goes by on skis.

A Howitzer gun is pulled into position by soldiers. General JM Rockingham and army officers walk towards camera. The gun is fired to shoot snow down before it comes down in the form of an avalanche. Huge clouds of snow start to fall from the upper regions of the mountains.

Machines clear the snow away so that road building gear can be moved on. Point of view shot as we drive through a snow shed built over a section of the road for protection. The truck comes out the other side.
