A railway viaduct - once destroyed by nationalists - is reopened.
Republic of Ireland, Eire, Southern Ireland.
Title: "October 16th. Reconstruction era begins with opening of the Mallow Viaduct".
Opening of the reconstructed railway viaduct over the Blackwater destroyed by nationalists some years before.
C/U of several men inside the driver's cabin of a steam engine; the driver wears a cap and dashes about operating the engine, he indicates to a smartly dressed man to pull a large lever - probably some sort of dignitary who wants to be seen 'driving' the train for the purpose of publicity.
Low angled L/S of the train driving over the reconstructed viaduct. Panning shot along a group of twenty or so men and two little boys - they appear to be posing for a group of photograph in front of the stationary train.
Note: shots from this story are used in a longer story - PRESIDENT COSGRAVE - also in G 1046. AH 2000.
