Mae West was officially opening the lavish new fashion house of Riché at 14 Hay Hill in 1948. Whilst predominately in the forefront of Haute Coiffure, Sidney Riche was one of the earliest post war hair fashion entrepreneurs who worked with Parisian couturiers like Christian Dior. This occasion marked a revival of the post war London Fashion scene much needed in badly damaged Mayfair following the blitz and the war years. Seen in the film is Sidney Riché entering his new salon with Mae West and standing in attendance further shots show Mae West seated talking with Madame Riché on her right.

Only being 10 years old at that time and at boarding school I was unable to attend this gala show. Finding this unseen to me film on Pathé is an amazing recollection of memories of my parents and I feel justified in adding more detail to the story.
