Animation and real footage looks at the progress of transport and, er, ladies panties.

Various locations of events.
A combination of animation and archive and modern day footage illustrates this item that looks at the beginnings and progress of railway engines, motor cars, airships and bicycles. The modern examples include the Cock o' the North steam train, Campbell's Bluebird, the Zeppelin airship and a high-powered flying boat.
While we see a blonde glamour girl in shorts, sitting on a bicycle and powdering her nose, commentator comes out with the classic line "Whilst on the subject of clothes ... what about ladies panties?" (trust Pathe to get knickers in here one way or another!) and we are treated to a big C/U of the lady's bottom - with shorts on.
Commentator remarks that, like the bicycle, panties are getting smaller and smaller. Animated drawing of a woman in Victorian costume fades into a drawing of her in frilled bloomers and corset. M/S of the glamour girl posing in camiknickers. Then we see a tiny box tied with a bow and labelled 'Fifi' being given to her as she stands behind a screen. The box apparently contains the panties that women will be wearing in the year 2000. The girl opens the box but it is empty! Animation of a fat moth flying away - he got into them first!
