London Fire Brigade Headquarters.
LFB fire engine carrying ladder drives into yard. People are gathered to watch. A whistle blows and the firemen begin to unload the ladder. The firemen extend the ladder as they wheel it into position next to a building. They place chocks under the wheels and two of the fire brigade men start climbing up the ladder. Upon reaching the top of the ladder they climb into the fire tower through a window.
The man at the bottom of the ladder runs across the yard and slides, quite spectacularly, to the end of the hose pipe which is lying on the ground. He picks up the water hose and aims it at a white board.
C/U of the white board as water blasts from the hose to knock it over.
The hose man runs back to the foot of the ladder and climbs up it. The camera follows him up the ladder - he slips near the top - and he then climbs into the building.
Two firemen climb out of the building carrying two dummies they have rescued. The climb down the ladder with the dummies over their shoulders. Ropes are thrown from the top of the building and then a dummy is lowered down on a harness (rather faster than they would do with a person one hopes.) Another dummy is lowered in similar fashion.
Presentation of trophy to winners. Ranks of firemen in their brass helmets. The woman handing over the trophy says "Like, I think, all women, I admire brave men." There is a round of applause.
