Five women runners on their marks for the start of the "Women's 100 Yards Race", they get away and camera pans with them. Dorothy Hyman of Britain goes into the lead, with H. Young and E. Wheeler behind. The girls race on and Heather Young draws level with Hyman as they race for the tape, Hyman wins by a faction of an inch. M/S Hyman and Young walking off the track together.
Night shot of flood lights. Panning night shot of runners during men's 1 mile race, coming first is Dan Waern of Stockholm, second is S. Lewandoski (Poland) and third is S. Herrmann (East Germany). Panning shot as athletes round the bend. G/V crowd applauding. Panning shot Waern racing for the tape, Herrmann overtakes Lewandoski to go into second place. Waern crosses the tape with Herrmann (2nd) and Lewandoski (3rd).

Panning L/S Stan Eldon (GB) being followed by Gordon Pirie as they run down the straight. Panning L/S other runners coming along behind. L/S Martin Hyman (GB) being followed by Pirie as they run down the straight, Eldon overtakes G. Honicke (East Germany) to come in third. Eldon attempts to overtake Pirie and Hyman, but Pirie glances over his shoulder, sees Eldon, and puts on a spurt, they both overtake Hyman. Panning L/S of Pirie in lead, he laps Bertil Kallevagh (Stockholm) and crosses the tape. Nigh shot Pirie and his wife, Shirley Pirie, with their arms round each other as they walk off the track.
