Solitary Island is a rugged rock off the New South Wales coast, upon which three isolated families live. C/U the Lighthouse on the island. L/U the supply ship making its way to the island. C/U A crate, carrying supplies for the inhabitants swinging along in overhead cable strung from the supply ship to the island. It is too dangerous for the ship to dock. M/S and C/U the inhabitants sort out their mail. C/U a woman handing out newspapers and comics to the children. C/U a boy studying alone. The nearest school is on the mainland.
