    Item title reads - Life's work for women crowned. Mr Baldwin unveils statue of Mrs Emmeline Pankhurst, leader of the Militant Suffragettes in the very shadow of Parliament, and scene of many "battles" in "votes for women" campaign. London.

    M/S as Stanley Baldwin stands on a platform making a speech, the camera pans across the huge crowd gathered to the statue wrapped in a flag.

    Intertitle - 'Truly is her life's work crowned.'

    The intertitle fades out to a shot of her statue after the unveiling. L/S of the statue with crowds around it, many people, mostly women, lay floral tributes at the bottom.

    Intertitle - 'for a few brief moments let the Pathe Gazette conjure up the past.'
    Intertitle - '17 years ago, Mrs Pankhurst, her daughters, "General" Drummond, Annie Kenny, and suffragettes in thousands, fought and suffered for the cause.'

    M/S as more people lay wreaths at the statue. M/S before it is unveiled. M/S of the statue after unveiling. M/S's of floral tributes being laid. M/S of the statue. M/S of speakers in the middle of the crowd, it pans up to the church. M/S of the statue again and Baldwin making speech. Baldwin sits down. M/S of a woman conducting enthusiastically. People applaud Baldwin. M/S of him making his speech.

    The date of the unveiling was 6 March 1930.

    "M/S of a woman conducting enthusiastically" - that's Ethel Smyth.

    "M/S of speakers in the middle of the crowd, it pans up to the church." - rather than a church this is actually the Victoria Tower of the Houses of Parliament.
