Women help men to launch lifeboat at small coastal town in Kent.
Coxswain George Tart rushes out of a house on a beach carrying a flag. He runs to the lifeboat flagpole and hoists the flag.
A group of men and women run as fast as they can towards the lifeboat. 66-year-old Madge Tart comes running out of her house to join them. They all run towards the lifeboat station and up the steps.
The doors are opened and several women pull on the rope to start the lifeboat down the slipway. The boat is launched and the women stand on the shore watching.
Note: old database records list the names of Miss Serena Fair, Mrs O'Donovan and Miss Edith Oiler as being among the women seen here. Notes and cuttings on file.
