This clip is believed to be of the Frederick H Pilley at Polpeor Cove, Lizard old lifeboat station. The rope seen running across the screen was secured to the cliff face and ran out to a fixed marker to the right of the lifeboat slip. This enabled the crew to grab on to the rope as they were coming in to the beach in heavy weather/surf and control the situation before securing the winch wire. Clip probably filmed between 1920 and 1934.
