The train which runs past in the background is actually on the former Great Northern Railway's branch line, between their mainline at Beeston and their goods yard at Knowsthorpe. The GN signal box and footbridge can also be seen.

The Middleton Colliery Railway could be seen from the Parkside Ground, but was on a lower level than the GN. It's still there - unlike the old GN line, and is now a heritage railway.
