    Laying foundation stone for League of Nations building at Geneva, Switzerland - September 1929.

    Opens w/ shots of crowd in bleachers; standing behind barrier. Nice CU of several cameras set up. Stone also being used as a time capsule. Several men putting a list of the member states of the League of Nations, a copy of the Covenant of the League of Nations, and specimen coins of each country represented at the League's 10th Assembly into casket; then CU man using a tool for soldering or engraving. CU stone w/ opening (out of order). Another stone is lowered from a tripod of logs. Also various shots throughout of speeches and of delegates conversing w/ each other. Includes Aristide Briand; who tried to push for a United States of Europe at this meeting. At end 2 shots of picture of planned building.

    The foundation stone was laid on 7 September 1929.

    The location here is Ariana Park in Geneva.

    "Several men putting rolled documents; etc. into opening in middle of stone" - it's a casket, containing a list of the member states of the League of Nations, a copy of the Covenant of the League of Nations, and specimen coins of each country represented at the League's 10th Assembly.
