    L/S cargo ship "Irish Elm" on stocks across river. C/U name on side of ship: "Irish Elm". Angle shot bows, pan down to show launching platform. M/S Doctor J.J. Ahern (Bishop of Cloyne) blessing the ship. C/U crowd watching. M/S Mrs. Maureen Lynch, wife of Taoiseach, pulling lever to release bottle of champagne. Camera zooms out as champagne bottle hits the bow. M/S Mrs. Lynch chopping length of rope with small axe, the rope releases the ship which slides down the slipway. Crowd of shipbuilders and public watches. L/S "Irish Elm" slides into water.
