Knife-thrower Martin Collins shows us his skill while his daughter Agnes bravely stands as the 'target'.
Several shots show knife-thrower Martin Collins throwing knives at his 17-year-old daughter, Agnes, in their garden. Agnes manages to smile throughout; although does blink rather hard as each knife slices into the board by her body and head. Martin then throws knives at Agnes as she stands sideways against the board; the film is slowed down slightly so we see the blades spinning through the air.
We then see Martin in the sweet shop he bought his wife as a thank you present for being his 'target' for twenty-one years (Agnes took over when Mrs Collins retired). Mrs Collins hands an ice cream to a small boy and takes his money. Good shots, though brief.
Note: on file is a news article from the Daily Mirror about the family, plus more info and a nice b/w photo of Martin about to fling a knife at a man with a film camera indoors (could possibly be Pathe cameraman - Martin is wearing the same shirt as in this film, but it could be just his best one! See cuts for great shot of Martin throwing knives towards the camera in the garden).
Cuts exist - see separate record.
