    King George VI and Queen Elizabeth (Queen Mother) open new building for the Bodleian Library at Oxford University.

    Elevated view of the open-topped Royal car driving through crowd lined streets. M/S of the King and Queen followed by Viscount Halifax (in robes), Chancellor of Oxford University, walking into the college grounds. C/U of the King explaining that he cannot open the door to the new library as the key has broken, officials rush forward to assist him. C/U of the Queen and Lord Halifax smiling at the King's plight. M/S of the King and Queen leaving, climbing into their car. The Royal standard and Royal coat of arms can clearly be seen on the front of the car.
