  1. Hilary Young says

Some 40 scripts for Mr Pottle were written by Robert Rutherford for K & Y and broadcast on radio programmes such as Workers' Playtime, Henry Hall's Guest Night, and Music Hall. In an archive of Rutherford's work at Ashton under Lyne Library a letter to him from Douglas Young (dated 18.9.42) records having "to re-make some bits of the film as there was a technical hitch. We had looked upon the film as 'in the bag' and to have to try to remember exactly what we wore and what we said - and cart all the props there -sit for an hour and three-quarters being made up - made life seem so difficult". (This being in a week when they played twice-nightly at Guildford and broadcast 'It Goes To Show' from Bristol).
