  • Short Summary

A variety of fences are found in Newfoundland.

  • Description

Sub title reads: "Our Cameraman reports on the art of privacy in far Newfoundland." The theme of this film is that those who live in Newfoundland like their privacy so they build lots of fences.

L/S of fenced off farmland. A car drives past the fence. Another shot of a Newfoundland fence.

The fences here are unusual because they are made from barrel staves (I think) so they are curved. Various shots of the impressive (!) fences. Another odd fence is shown which seems to use strips of fabric or leather rather than stakes.

High angle of a fisherman who has a fence made of fishnets (?). L/S of a small fenced off area which looks odd. Another fence which has spikes at the top. Various views which incorporate fences. Bizarre!

This is one of the NFTVA prints made from our decomposing nitrate.
