  • Description

    Part of MANY THANKS issue.

    Pathe Studios, London.

Baritone singer John Steabben sings rousing patriotic anthem, "Your England and Mine".

Various shots of John in country pub set, two actors sit at table nursing pints of beer listening to the song.

Song is illustrated by various shots representing Englishness and patriotism: idyllic scenes of boats on river, country pubs, castles, hills, lakes, villages, churches and a fishing trawler at sea with sunset in background. Also shots of war: map of Britain, Commonwealth soldiers marching (looks like Australia or South Africa), battleships at sea, bomb site, British soldiers marching, tanks, snipers in gas masks, attacking soldiers scrambling over rubble.

At the end of the performance John and his companions raise their glasses in a toast to Old Blighty.
