• Short Summary

Excellent interview with leading American Civil Rights activist.

  • Description

    Hancock, United States of America

Close-up of Dr. John L. McCown as he explains his hopes for the future reliant on a society where whites and blacks exist and work side-by-side.

(Good quote: "I want to see a community where people are concerned only about people...not black, not white, just people")

Camera zooms out as John McCown outlines differing conditions in America's north and south, and how freedom must come from the south. He also mentions some intriguing ideas about racism as a economic problem rather than a racial problem. He mentions that once the economic problems of the south are dealt with, then the question of racial issues will be able to be tackled properly.

"John McCowan" in title, text and tags should read John McCown.

Slightly narrowing the clip's current date range, McCown only arrived in Hancock (the scene of the clip) in 1966, whereupon he began massive poverty-fighting programs.
