• Short Summary

Comedian Jock Walker tells jokes to some pals in a pub.

  • Description

    No titles. Comedian Jock Walker.

    Pathe Studio, London.

On a set dressed to look like an inn or pub we see Jock Walker sitting at a table with another man. The barman brings them both a pint and sits down to listen to Jock telling jokes. He talks about Scotch collie dog who was given a penny each day and would go into the village to get a roll for his breakfast. The dog stopped going to the kennel for five days, then went with all the pennies and bought back seven rolls for sixpence.

Then Jock talks about a minister preaching to a wealthy but mean congregation in Aberdeen. In the middle of his address for more money a piece of plaster fell on the head of a man who was listening. The man offered the minister £5 and the minister said "Oh Lord, hit 'im again!".

Jock speaks about a minister who visited a woman. The woman offered him a cup of tea and he said "No tea"; a cup of coffee and he said "No coffee"; a cup of cocoa and he said "No cocoa". Finally she offered him a whiskey and soda and he said "No soda!". Jock and his pals think all his jokes are very funny.

Jock then stands up and sings 'Auld Lang Syne' (or a version of it!). The two men stand up and join in the last chorus.

Note: item is out of synch throughout due to early sound recording.
