  • Description

Animation featuring Jerry the Troublesome Tyke - a cartoon dog. A U.I.C. production.

Jerry stands on a chair by a dinner table. He looks at the things on the table then looks at the audience. He says: "No breakfast again!" He picks up the newspaper and looks at it. He sees an advert which reads: "C.O.D. Order your food by post." Jerry has an idea. He writes on the newspaper, filling in the words for C.O.D. as "Cats or Dogs" He sits at a writing desk and composes two letters, one to the grocer and one to the butcher. He asks for a box of dog biscuits and 4 ham bones (with a P.S. saying "With the meat round.") Jerry walks out of the house and through the garden then posts the letters in the postbox. He paces up and down in front of his kennel. A few hours later he is still pacing.

A delivery man arrives. C/U of the label on his package - "To Jerry C.O.D." The delivery man says: "Four and six to pay" and holds out his hand. The initials C.O.D. turn into "Cash on Delivery" Jerry pleads poverty and the delivery man walks off. Jerry gets a sign out of his kennel and puts it outside the gate. It reads: "Beware of the Dog". When the other delivery man arrives Jerry barks and growls and scares him so he drops the package and runs off. Jerry shouts after him "Cheerio Old Dear!" The initial C.O.D. turn into Jerry's face. He smiles and winks.
