A festival is featured - called "hinamatsuri" it is the festival of dolls. M/S of group of young girls dressed in traditional outfits - kimonos with hair pinned up and white make-up. M/S of the girls being helped to walk through the streets by their parents.
Japanese love the theatre and their children are trained from an early age to act in theatrical pieces. C/U of young boy being given a Kabuki style face make up. M/S of four young boys wearing the dramatic make-up. One of the boys is given a wig. M/S of the actors walking along in ornate costumes. High angle shot of an elaborately decorated float being pulled through a street by ropes. Children dressed in ornate costumes sit and stand on the float.
