  • Short Summary

Sea Cadets receive King's honours at Folkestone, Kent.

  • Description

The Sea Cadets of the Royal Naval Volunteer Regiment (?) (RNVR) receive honours at Folkestone, Kent. Full titles read: "Jack Tar Junr ! CLB. Sea Cadets. RNVR, first to be formed in Britain,- receive 'King's' and 'Company' Colours".

M/S Two Naval officials stand in line opposite senior looking officials. A crowd of people is visible in the background, behind them buildings are visible. A more senior naval official (judging by his uniform holds aloft the Union flag and passes it to a women in a fur coat. One of the Naval men steps forwards (he has a sword attached to his belt) he kneels down. He is handed the flag, he stands up and walks off. The second man does the same but is given a different flag,(it is difficult to make out what flag this is, however, the word Cadets can be made out written on it) he follows the other naval official.

Nice M/S of the two flag bearers standing in line, holding the flags at a slight angle. The young Sea Cadets march past them guns raised over their left shoulder (These are possibly fake).

CLB stands for Church Lads Brigade. The CLB sponsored the formation of a small number of Sea Cadet Units.
