  • Short Summary

Irish politicians pose on steps of building.

  • Description

    Irish Cabinet - 1920s?

Probably shot in Dublin, Eire (Republic of Ireland, Southern Ireland).

Group of about 60-70 men posing on steps in front of government-type building. Listing says Irish Cabinet 1920's?. Looks big for a cabinet; but possibly winners of parliamentary elections? Pan across group of men posing on steps. Group of politicians leaving building.

    Government; politics; Ireland.

(Check Pathe ON 249 B; for similar group; winners of first elections held in Northern Ireland; elections were held simultaneously in both Northern and southern Ireland; May; 1920. Perhaps these are the winners from the southern parliament- -the Dail- -almost all of whom were from the Sinn Fein.)

The caption should be corrected. This is the group of delegates at the Irish Convention.

A cross reference for this is a photograph taken in the Weekly Irish Times (searchable online at a library) issue of the 8 December 1917 pages 4-5. It is the exact same group shot of the footage herein.
