    This clip is currently incorrectly dated as 1945, the war in Europe having ended by that time.

    Instead, most if not all of this footage was shot on 19 September 1944, in Heckhuscheid, Western Germany. (Note that a slate seen during the clip incorrectly names the location as "Heckusheid", which needs correcting in text and tags to the new spelling).

    The cameraman is named on the slate as being Shannon, of the 110th Infantry Regiment.

    CORRECTION: In my earlier post I said the war in Europe had ended in 1945, but of course that's not true, (I'm not sure where my head must have been that day!).

    The shooting date of this footage remains the same, 19th September 1944, and shows what would have been one of the Allied troops' very first forays in to Germany.
