This clip, about US troops in France, is currently dated as 1940. However the Americans didn't even enter WWII until after the attack on Pearl Harbour in December 1941.

The footage is instead almost certainly shot in 1944, shortly after D-day.

The road-sign seen at 01:37, saying "Carentan 11, Cherbourg 61", (currently wrongly spelt in the text), places the filming as being somewhere in the Normandy region of France.
