Monkey is made to do human things - wearing a hat, winding a watch, using a handkerchief etc.
"The Chimpanzee has more human traits than any other animal on earth." M/S of a chimp holding an umbrella over its head. "He's more curious even, then a - well, ask the wife." M/S of a chimpanzee sniffing and touching a tortoise (or turtle). This tortoise is being held towards the chimp by a zoo keeper outside the cage - he holds it through the bars on a spade or similar tool. The tortoise falls off and onto its back - a bit cruel! The chimp tries to separate the tortoise from its shell.
"And so sympathetic." C/U of chimp rubbing its eyes with a handkerchief. "Any youngster has this instinct." Monkey holds a soft toy, it plays with it. It lays it on the ground and tries to undo a ribbon which is tied onto the toy's leg. "The Chimpanzee's mimicry isn't good for watches." C/U of a chimp's hands as it winds up a watch. "Brown eyes, why are you blue?" C/U of zoo keeper with his head very close to the bars of the cage. Monkey puts its hand through the bars and touches him on the nose. He then strokes the zoo keeper on the head, very tenderly. "All is vanity!" The chimp plays a little drum and puts a hat on. "All the attributes of man - but no soul!" C/U of monkey with hat on.
