    Inside The Gates Of Soviet Russia - Petrograd (after St Petersburg and before Leningrad) circa 1921.

    Boats and ships on river; snow on banks. GV looking across part of frozen harbour; partially snow-covered; buildings in bg. Group of children pose in front of USA ship; the 'Margus' (or 'Marcus'); w/ US flag flying; American ships are bringing food as famine relief.

    Man in street in fur hat operating hand-cranked film camera; other Russian men & boys stand around. Street scene: pedestrians in heavy winter coats & fur hats walk up & down city street in business district; past shop windows; piles of snow all along side of street. Another shot of pedestrians hurrying along on wide street. Horse drawn sleds going up street.

    Title frame: 'Here the doctrine of 'equality' is carried out in practice...' MS women shovel snow; they wear aprons; babushkas. Another shot; looking up street; man & woman both shovelling in foreground. Rather dim LS horse pulling sled piled w/ stuff & 2 people; also a few pedestrians; going past huge building w/ flag flying from top.

    GV 'Red Place'; w/ Romanov monument; big building in bg (Winter Palace?). Fur-hatted men drive horse-drawn large sledges up street. Finally; another sort of general street scene; w/ many pedestrians walking every which way; sledge passing; etc.
