• Short Summary

Cricket lessons are given in a "big West End Store".

  • Description

    London.

Cricket lessons are given in a "big West End Store". Panning shot shows crowds of people crowded around the "nets". A man in a striped blazer is in charge of proceedings - possibly a famous cricketer of the 1930s, not recognised by this cataloguer. He directs another man, Mr J W Hearne to number 5 net. Other tutors include a Mr Livsey.

Various shots of lessons being given. Some to adult men, some younger boys and even some women! The girls are pretty good actually.

Note: confirmation of names of these cricketers would be gratefully received.

"Mr Hearne" is J W Hearne.

"Mr Livesey" should read Livsey (Walter Livsey).

Several of the men seen in this clip (I don't know who they are) wear Middlesex County Cricket Club jumpers.
