Excellent story of the 'Flying Scotsman' speeding northwards with the large aeroplane 'Heracles' in pursuit.
Full titles read: "IN THE VAN ! - On board the 'Flying Scotsman', rushing north at a mile a minute, whilst the Radio Engineers are trying out two - way telephone conversation."
M/S's of a man in a carriage of the 'Flying Scotsman' talking on the telephone in an attempt to communicate with the large aircraft which is attempting to find them. Very good C/U of the wheels and pistons of the large locomotive turning at speed as it speeds along the track. L/S of the plane in the sky. C/U off of the pilot of the plane and a man replying to the man in the steam train, he informs them that they will catch them up soon.
Intertitle reads: "Miles away the mighty Imperial 'plane 'Heracles' fourteen tons of flying machinery, with forty listening passengers is racing after the train."
