    Intertitle - 'crack troops trained by the finest officers.' L/S as the officers walk about in a garden.

    Intertitle - 'Letters from home are welcome after a month of service in the blazing sun.' M/S as two soldiers sit and one reads a letter.

    Intertitle - (obscured by timecode). M/S as one soldier with a big beard opens a letter then scratches his head.

    Intertitle - 'the rest period over...loyal sons of France return to their lonely, sand swept stations.' M/S of Legionnaires gathered together, one salutes.
