• Short Summary

Beautiful Suffolk scenery as we visit the old haunts of painter John Constable.

  • Description

    Titles read: 'IN CONSTABLE'S COUNTRY'.

    Suffolk / Essex.

Various scenic shots of the countryside around the River Stour. The area is known as Constable's Country and commentator says we will soon be celebrating the centenary of the death of painter John Constable.

Shots of an old thatched house, similar to the one that Constable was born in, beside the river. We see several shots of the lock - immortalised in one of Constable's pictures - and Flatford Mill, which is almost unchanged since the time when the painter's father owned it. Shot of white ducks on the river beside the mill.

View from the mill window of the river and house opposite that Constable would have while working there.
