  • Description

Full title reads: "Honours Easy! Carlisle 'live to fight another day' by drawing with Hull City 1-1."

The two football teams run out onto the pitch. (Carlisle United followed by Hull City).

The two captains stand in the centre circle and toss a coin with the referee to decide who will kick off.

Good footage of the match, with cutaway to the crowd.

(Nice shot of one of the stands which has an advertisement along the top "After the match visit the Co-operative Cafe Botchergate".)

Sound Track Missing. Some of this film is quite scratched. A Pathe website user has provided some extra information about this match. This was a league match (Division 3 North) played on December 3rd, 1932 at Brunton Park, home of Carlisle United. The grandstand shown here was built in 1909 and burnt down in 1953. The scorers were Edward Legge (his only career goal) and Bill McNaughton for Hull (currently still the record holding goal scorer for the club). JH - 2002.

This match looks like, rather than the League match on December 3rd, it was the FA Cup tie one week later on December 10th, 1932. Same result - a 1-1 draw, but the crowd at this match is the larger of the two - 10,365 and not 4,073. Hull beat Carlisle 2-1 in the replay 5 days later.
