WAAF visits country inn and reminisces about honeymoon - very "Brief Encounter"!
Title reads: "Honeymoon Hotel".
Location of events unknown.
Various shots of woman in WAAF (Women's Auxiliary Air Force) uniform in telephone box speaking with her husband. The rest of the story is narrated by the woman, she remembers her honeymoon.
L/S of quaint country inn. The WAAF parks her jeep outside and goes inside. She looks wistfully at two empty chairs by fire. She chats with landlord behind the bar. She looks out of bedroom window where she stayed with her husband. Various shots of village church. The woman goes downstairs and puts a record on the gramophone. The music is "A Sleepy Lagoon" (from "Desert Island Discs" fame). She drinks a glass of port, looks into the fire.
Flashback to same woman in civvies dancing with her airman husband to "A Sleepy Lagoon" (she refers to it as "our tune"). Various shots of couple chatting and playing darts with locals in bar. C/U of couple holding hands by log fire. They go up stairs to their room. We see them standing by bed, the door closes.
The WAAF walks out of inn and she gazes back sadly to it. She gets into jeep and drives away.
Note: this is fantastic item for any "Brief Encounter" fans - the WAAF woman sounds exactly like Celia Johnson and there is lots of sentimental music!
