Racing pigeons are entered in a race by their owners in Austria.
Titles read: 'HOMING'.
Several shots of pigeons and their owners registering before a race. The pigeons have a numbered ring put on their leg then are put into baskets and sent by train to the starting place.
At the start of the race the baskets are opened and all the pigeons fly out. We then see the special clocks that are given to each pigeon owner before the race starts. They are fitted with a special roll of paper to record the time of the bird's return. The clocks are synchronised and locked. We see a judge signalling to the bird owners to start their clocks.
A pigeon arrives home. His owner takes off the ring from the bird's leg and drops it into a hole in the top of the clock. This action records the exact time of the bird's arrival.
