At her home in south London we see double gold-medalist Linda Ludgrove having a cup of tea with her mum and petting her poodle 'Goldie'. Her mother looks at a toy koala bear. Linda shows her mother the lucky American-Indian doll she always has with her.

15-year-old Linda goes back to Sydenham School in her Commonwealth Games outfit to hear her headmistress giving a speech. General view of schoolgirls with a banner behind them reading 'Well Done Linda, We Are Proud Of You'. The headmistress Miss Kinsey shakes hands with Linda, then she is presented with a cake. Linda presents a trophy cup to the head of the Physical Training Department. C/U of prim-looking schoolgirl with glasses and hair in a bun watching.
