  • Short Summary

Hilarious scenes as an intrepid inventor sees his airship ascend and crash.

  • Description

Item title reads: "Home Made "Blimp". 10 year dream of Mr. Hamza - finishes in disaster to his airship, after reaching 6,000 feet. The power plant consists of one motorcycle engine."

Secaucu,. New Jersey, United States of America (USA).

M/S people in field with a large balloon. Side view of the large balloon airship in three sections on a stand with gas. Bottles are stacked beneath it. People walk into shot and stand to the right of camera. A man tinkers with a small engine with a propeller. The airship rises slowly into the air with the pilot perched on a platform below it. The airship rocks precariously from side to side, while the propeller rotates slowly. The pilot struggles to centre the cradle platform by moving about from side to side. M/S airship with helpers running along holding underside of platform in attempt at controlling it, but it crashes to the ground. Shot of pilot donning flying helmet.

Note: see also *PM0694* 694.24 for alternative shots. The balloon looks like huge floating whale in the sky or a massive torpedo. The platform looks like a window cleaners' cradle. It all looks hilarious.

This blimp was made by husbands' grandfather. He was told that it made a trip from Secaucas, NJ to Flushing Meadow, NY. (Queens). My husbands name is Mark Hamza. This video my have been one of the unsuccessful attempts.
