• Short Summary

Children try to catch oranges being rolled over the crest of the Downs at Dunstable.

  • Description

    Dunstable, Bedfordshire.

On the crest of the Downs at Dunstable we see crowds of children struggling to catch oranges that women are throwing down the hills. It apparently relates to the Romans rolling boulders over the Downs to confound their enemies. Good L/Ss of the children scattered over the slopes.
