• Short Summary

Beautiful hand painted shoe heels are seen being made.

  • Description

    Norwich, Norfolk.

M/S workroom where three women artists are painting high heels with pretty pictures. One paints a Kingfisher on a white heel. Another paints a Chinese design on a blue heel. Various shots of the women at work. Joe Brett has come up with this new idea to give shoes an exclusive touch and at the same time to revive some of the lost craftsmanship of the shoe industry.

Fashion centres abroad are sending orders for these new heels. Panning shot of many heels with different designs. Single heels are seen in C/U, displayed on a piece of fabric. A white flower trimmed shoe is shown to the camera - lovely! other shoes are displayed. Narrator ends with a few jokes about husbands having to foot the bill or else be considered a heel.

According to paperwork the three girls are Joanna Brett, Anne Brett and Anne Pritchard. Joe Brett is presumably the father of the two girls but we don't see him.

This idea could be used again. There are no longer any shoe factories in Norwich, so the painting would probably take place elsewhere.
Joanna Brett later had a career in the film and television industry, working in London and New York, and not least in Norwich on "Tales of the Unexpected".
Joanna now works as an artist and has exhibitions in Norfolk and Suffolk.
