L/S of the comedian and entertainer Harry Tate entering a tatty looking billiard room. A couple men are a sleep on the chairs, while the marker boy sleeps on the table. Tate, who is wearing a false moustache, he slaps a queue on the table and the marker boy wakes up. He makes the marker set up the red ball so that he can have a practise game.
A man wearing a bowler hat suit and false moustache challenges Tate to a game. They agree to play for ten pounds. However, Tate appears to have a trick or two up his sleeve as when the bowler hatted gentleman is out of sight he whispers something in the marker's ear and he chuckles.
Tate starts the match, his first shot is not appreciated by the his opponent and he complains to the marker boy. They take several more shots each before a drunk enters the room and slumps all over the table before being forced to leave after much protesting from the competitors.
Several more shots of the chaotic match in progress. Another man then enters wearing an apron, he stand on the table and measures part of the table. When Tate asks what is going on, the man in the apron says "there's a railway coming through here sir".
The two men resume the match again with Tate at the table. Tate makes several cannons, however there is something very strange about the three balls he is using. They all appear to be stuck together! His high break is suddenly interrupted as a large piece of the ceiling collapses on the table, at which point Tate calls the contest off.
