    LS Bungalow through trees. LS of water wheel turning. Panning shot of interior of a mill. MS Woman sorting and tearing rags. CU Man chopping rags into little pieces. MS Man feeding rags into wooded stud-spindle operated by a water wheel, this starts the mallet beating the rags which are mixed with water and it gradually turns to pulp. MS Man placing mould, consisting of a wooded frame, spanned with fine copper netting, into the pulp, man shaking the surplus water away leaving a thin coat of paper. This is pressed on a piece of felt by the coucher. LS Man blowing hooter, at which all workers leave their jobs to help with the turning of the heavy press, this presses out the water from the paper. MS Woman hanging paper over line to dry. CU Paper hanging up. MS Man carrying a bundle of hand-made Dutch paper, he places it on table at side of man who is writing with quill pen. CU Man's hand writing on paper.

    this film is shot in the paper mill Martin Orges in the Netherlands Open Air museum in Arnhem (still there). The mill was reconstructed after an existing mill. It depicts papermaking as done in the east of the country. The paper mills in the Zaanstreek (North Holland province) did not use stampers but Hollanders only. The power source of the Martin Orges paper mill is a small pond fed by a small stream and an undershot wheel. In the Zaanstreek wind power was used.
