Amendment February 2012: A visitor to the site has provided some more information. This was a Pathetone Weekly from 1930. Gordon Stewart, owner of the Kennel Send, appears with four handlers. One is Bob Montgomery, training manager. Audrey Field was the trainer for Champion Lancelot of Send and we hear her calling Lancelot. The four Great Danes called are: Ulana of Send (fawn, born 2nd July 1928), Lancelot of Send (blue, born 13th May 1928), Mona of Send (fawn, born 29th May 1928), Jeromy of Send (fawn). The scene where Gordon Stewart speaks from inside a great hall is filmed inside the Swiss style “Karinda Hut” at Send Manor. He then proceeds to introduce “These five Great Danes”, of which we can identify: Champion Midas of Send (fawn, born 29th May 1928, Registration No. 778KK), owned by Prince George, Duke of Kent. The dog became famous throughout the United Kingdom for his leading role as “Alert” in the Safety First film “Alert To-Day – Alive To-morrow” (1933). Champion Lancelot of Send (the best blue Great Dane in the Kingdom, born 13th May 1928), Nitza of Send (harlequin, born 23rd May 1928). The film clip ends with all the puppies being fed in front of the Puppy Range Building at Send Manor.
